14  Ann Greensmith comes into my life  1998

We had a not very good start. I had always wanted to draw the square in Mechelin, Belgium, where I worked several years back.  Ann went for an explore while I settled down to draw, and an attractive young blond sat next to me and started talking. I have never had this happen before!  When Ann returned she did not seem very pleased, and ever since them I am very lucky if I can draw on my own.

Ann’s daughter was living in Ireland so we went there and I was allowed to draw this.

Jean Dunn moved to a new house in Everingham

I then abandoned Ann for Tom and Monica in Greece

The weather was not good and we were fortunate to be able to spend some time in Monemvasia, a large trading post in olden days. With small alleys and another ruined city at the top of the hill, it was a fascinating place.

We had a rough passage to Crete

I took a boat from Crete to Athens and had time to visit the Acropolis.  There were so many people that I could only get to see this.

I then went to join Richard and Sue in Amsterdam. There was flooding which caused disruption on the railways. Richard was taking a newly acquired barge to France

Later in the year I stayed with Richard and Sue. I drew this for them, it was Sue’s Gite at Villy

Later Ann and I went to America to the music festival at Tanglewood. We stayed in the Berkshires with friends of Jeremy and Simone.

  1. Wow!! Brilliant, there are many there that would make splendid ‘Greeting’cards. Very talented, well done and many many thanks for all the effort you have gone to with so much precision. Extremely enjoyable, and wonderful ‘memoires’.

  2. I’m humbled by your travels and you’ve had a rich and varied life. I’ve stumbled across these pages searching for Buildwas Abbey as we now live there and I would simply love to speak with you of your time here and if you have any more drawings of the place. It’s changed a lot since the 60’s as it became a Social Club, but we are trying to return it to its former glory.

    1. I think I have replied somewhere else. I am not very good with this modern technology. But my telephone number is 01926 338 572 should you wish to speak to me. I would be interested!
